Please be aware that we want this to be a pleasant experience for all members. Some people have forgotten that we had announced the size restriction of 16×20 for the framed image at the previous meeting. Since that information did not get included in the notice, I am not going to be hard nosed up about it. If you have already prepared an oversized framed image, there is no need to reframe and reprint it.
I apologize for not including that information when I updated last year’s notice. The restrictions on size and number of submissions were needed due to the influx of new members that we have recently experienced. I think that with allowing one image submission for each member should give us some flexibility for those members that might have missed that announcement. ~ Tom Lavoie
We are holding our print competition on Tuesday January 23rd 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth. There will be two categories: unframed and framed. Awards in the framed competition will be recognized at the subsequent annual exhibition at the Portsmouth Public Library in February. Subject is open (no theme). Due to the increased membership all paid members can enter only one framed print and up to three unframed prints. Subject is open.
The unframed prints will not be displayed in the exhibition – these are limited to 8.5 x 11 maximum size. This is so that members who do not have ability to print larger can participate on an equal playing field. As mentioned in the least meeting, the print size should not exceed 16 x 20. The framed print that you submit will be the one exhibited at the upcoming exhibit. Please include titles for your image- This will be printed on a caption card that will be displayed with your image.
Paid members of the Seacoast Camera Club are invited to exhibit their photograph at the Portsmouth Library during the month of February 2017. The exhibition will be in the Levenson Room on the first floor – to the left as you enter the library.
Each member is allowed to exhibit one image. Print mediums of paper, metal, canvas, etc are all allowed. The only requirement is that each work must have a hanging wire – sawtooth hangers won’t work on the rods used by the library. As this is a public space, only family-friendly images may be displayed – the library reserves the right to reject any art they deem to be offensive.
Works cannot be sold at the library and no prices will be displayed, but you can include price and personal contact information on an artist statement that can be added to our exhibition binder (print on standard 8.5 x 11 paper – we will have a 3-hole punch available).
