Our next meeting is on April 12th at 6:00-8:00 PM at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth.
Tom Lavoie, SCC member, will present the fun, techniques, and considerations of doing street photography. Tom will define the style, review useful techniques, and discuss the psychology involved. His presentation will also review recommended equipment and the history of this very unique style of photography. Tom has shared some of his images in prior club meetings – it should be a very interesting presentation.
Our next meeting is a photo competition on March 22nd 6:00-8:00 PM at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth. The challenge theme is “Architecture.” There is also an Open category.
See our competition submission rules for details. Submission deadline is Saturday, March 19th.
Paul Hopkins, our club Judging Coordinator, will present a photograph judging workshop at our March 8th meeting (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth, NH).
The first part is an explanation of concept with some examples. This part has two objectives.
- Photographer: To evaluate your images as a viewer who wasn’t there when the picture was taken.
- Judge: To evaluate based on what the picture tells you and comment accordingly.
Objective #1 will help you better select competitive images.
Objective #2 will help with evaluation and commentary.
The second part will be a series of drills that will be progressively more challenging. Some will be asked to comment on your score, and you can volunteer a comment. There won’t be time for everyone to comment on every image. One of the drills will focus on the NECCC Nature definition.
